Use on most single-needle industrial sewing machines.
The gathering/shirring foot is used to gather layers of light to medium-weight fabric.
The shirring foot, sometimes referred to as the gathering attachment, produces a smock-like gather. The underside of this foot is designed so that only half of the foot makes contact with your machine's feed dogs. This causes a gather in the fabric as you sew. It is recommended that you set your machine's tension and stitch length to a slightly higher setting to help with the gathering effect.

Please Note:
Many sewing machine feet are interchangeable, but they are not entirely universal. To know if a sewing machine foot will fit your machine, first determine if your machine is high shank, low shank, or another style.
Most home sewing machines are low-shank style. Only low-shank feet will fit a low-shank machine, and only high-shank feet will fit a high-shank machine. Then, determine the presser foot's attachment style: does the presser foot screw or snap onto the machine? As long as you choose a foot with the correct shank height and attachment style, many brands and types of presser feet may be applicable.
However, some brands of sewing machines like Bernina may have a different presser foot system that is not interchangeable with other brands of presser feet.
